WHAT special clubs or student organizations is the program involved with?

SkillsUSA-The goal of the SkillsUSA organization is to develop employability, participatory and quality skills to complement the occupational skills developed by students in technical education classrooms or work-based learning sites. Students are able to demonstrate their skills in competitive events at the local, state, and national levels.

WHICH students participated in competitions, which allowed them to demonstrate their expertise in the electronic media/broadcasting industry, and were recognized as outstanding students?

MEET  THE  WINNERS:

Ronny, a junior enrolled in the Electronic Media/ Broadcasting program at the Saginaw Career Complex , demonstrated his skill, knowledge, and ability to be creative and informative in the electronic media environment through participation in the 2006 Ferris Video Festival, and walked away with a First Place victory in the PSA (Public Service    Announcements) category.

The festival, which was sponsored by The Television and Digital Media Production Program at Ferris State University and the Registered Student Organization, Ferris Media Communications Association (MCA), was open to all Michigan high school students. Members of MCA reviewed and judged student entries in the following categories: Sports/News, Music Video, Action/Drama, Animation, Comedy, Documentary, and PSA.   Ronny, also a student at Saginaw High School, earned his First Place award for his short, noncommercial announcement that provided information to the public, which was entitled Weed or Bust .

Congratulations!

WHAT certifications can I achieve or work toward in the Electronic Media/Broadcasting program?

Students may earn a Marketable Skills Certificate. The marketable skills certification process provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate, document, and defend their achievement of employer validated standards and competencies. Achievement of the marketable skills certification should improve the likelihood of success in future employment and/or a continuing educational program
