WHO are the instructors?
A student once said, "At first I thought
my instructor was a geek. Soon, I found Mr. Roebuck
to be an informational database. . . ." Mr.
Dennis Roebuck, indeed, is remarkable source of
information for the students enrolled in either
of the programs he teaches at the Complex. Mr.
Roebuck's formal training covers a broad spectrum.
He has a Bachelor's Degree from Saginaw Valley
State University along with a Michigan Professional
Teaching Certificate in English, History, Computer
Science, and Vocational Business Services. In
addition, Mr. Roebuck has been employed as a computer
programmer/technician by American Express, McDonnell-Douglas,
EDS, and the School District of the City of Saginaw.
Mr.
Randall Juhl splits his time between teaching
and working for Wright-K Technology, Inc., where
he is employed as the Management Information Systems
Director. When Mr. Juhl is not at Wright-K, he
might be found at Davenport University, Saginaw
Valley State University, Delta College or the
Saginaw Career Complex teaching Computer Technology
and Networking. His educational background includes
an Associate's of Science Degree from the College
of Lake County in Illinois, a Bachelor's Degree
in Applied Computer Science from the University
of Wisconsin, and graduate studies in computer
science from Old Dominion University in Virginia
and Central Michigan University. Other past experiences
include work as a Chief Petty Officer Electronics
Technician in the United States Navy.
WHAT special clubs or student organizations
is the program involved with?
Business
Professionals of America-BPA is a co-curricular
organization designed to meet the needs of students
enrolled in vocational business and office education
programs. Students have the opportunity to compete
at the local, state, and national levels.
Skills
USA/VICA-The goal of the VICA organization
is to develop employability, participatory and
quality skills to complement the occupational
skills developed by students in technical education
classrooms or work-based learning sites. Students
are able to demonstrate their skills in competitive
events at the local, state, and national levels.
WHAT certifications can I achieve or work toward
in the Computer Technology and Networking program?
Cisco
Certified Network Associate (CCNA)-This
certification denotes a certain proficiency in
installing, configuring and operating LAN, routed
WAN and switched LAN Cisco networks. This certification
is a prerequisite for both the Cisco Certified
Network Professional (CCNP) and the Cisco Certified
Design Professional (CCDP) status.
Certified
Novell Administrator (CNA)-CNA's provide
companies direct support for software users in
various work environments including professional
offices and small businesses, work groups or departments,
and corporate information services.
Network+
-Network+ Certification means that the candidate
possesses the knowledge needed to configure and
operate a variety of networking products. This
exam covers a wide range of vendor and product
neutral networking technologies that can also
serve as a prerequisite for vendor-specific IT
certifications.
A+
Certification-This certification certifies
the competency of entry-level computer service
technicians. A+ Certification signifies that the
certified individual possesses the knowledge and
skills essential for a successful entry-level
computer service technician, as defined by experts
from companies across the industry.
Marketable
Skills Certificate-The marketable skills
certification process provides students with the
opportunity to demonstrate, document, and defend
their achievement of employer validated standards
and competencies. Achievement of the marketable
skills certification should improve the likelihood
of success in future employment and/or a continuing
educational program.
