Demarcus, also a student at SASA, conducted research and presented findings in a research paper, an oral presentation, and responded to questions from judges, which addressed the following topic:   The United States is depending on more outside sources for oil production.   It has caused a major rise in fuel costs in the United States.   What are some ways the U.S. can solve the demand on oil, and help ease our reliance on other countries?   His research paper was evaluated in areas covering comprehension, organization, conclusion, creativity, and writing.   The oral presentation and interview were judged for a clear organization of ideas, an attention-getting introduction, smooth transitions, a satisfying conclusion, vivid and precise language, and persuasiveness.
