What are "CAREER PATHWAYS"?
Career pathways are an organized grouping of academic
and career/technical programs, which provide focus and
direction to a student's educational plan. This approach
is designed to equip all students, no matter
what their interests, abilities, or talents are, with
the knowledge, skills, and work experiences needed for
a smooth and seamless transition from school to employment
and post-secondary education. These defined pathways
are derived from six career major areas, which allow
a student to focus upon a program that will match his/her
interests, skills, and abilities. Therefore, a student
is not locked into a single, individual, specific occupation,
but instead, the student is preparing for a career in
an area that will tap the talents within the individual
student and bring about a successful connection to his/her
future. All pathways have equal dignity, so all students
can prepare for rewarding careers—careers that
will show a connection between schoolwork and the real
world. Students are provided an opportunity to link
learning with earning!
